The Social Change Network is a group of friends, classmates, and colleagues committed to creating positive change in the worlds around us. As individuals, the work we do reflects our diversity and embraces endeavors that are public and private, domestic and international, direct and systematic. By forming a network, we recognize that we can be more transformative when we work together, and we seek to draw upon and nurture our collective strength and shared ideals.
Several SCN members gathered in the summer of 2007 for our first post-graduation retreat.
Our Commitment
We, the members of the Social Change Network, believe in the progressive ideals of liberty, justice, equality, and opportunity for all people. We will further these ideals by striving for systemic change at every level, always seeking to include and empower those with whom and on whose behalf we work. We commit to nurturing our network and using it to magnify and multiply our efforts in many ways, including by working collaboratively, learning together, and supporting each other. We pledge to approach our work for social change with creativity, humility, and courage; with respect for our families, colleagues, and communities; and with gratitude for the opportunity to serve.
Members of the Yale Law School Class of 2006 created the Social Change Network (SCN) to explore ways to address pressing social problems and create significant positive social change in our lifetimes. We have now graduated and entered a variety of fields, (see what SCN members are doing ) but have made a mutual commitment (see our SCN Framework Document ) to support each other’s efforts towards these ends. One of the most important aspects of our commitment is the pledge to maintain our network to develop meaningful relationships and build personal bonds that will enrich our lives and help empower us to make a difference in our communities and in the larger world.
